Cutting edge FinTech solutions from Poland presented in Tokyo

„Your perception of Poland after this event will dramatically change” – stated Mr Jacek Izydorczyk, Ambassador of Poland to Japan during his welcoming remarks which opened a seminar on Poland’s technologies for FinTech on 16 June. This was addressed to an audience consisting of well above 100 representatives of Japanese banking and insurance sector, venture capital and technology firms as well as FinTech start-ups.

Keynote speech entitled “Fintech – major revolution in financial sector. Focus on Japan and Poland” was delivered by Mr Ikuo Yasuda, Founder and CEO of Pinnacle Inc., and a former Country Head of Lehman Brothers Japan.

During the event, six Polish companies and one technical university presented their cutting-edge solutions for the financial sector. They ranged from super-wallets integrating all mobile payments applications in one to AI modules for trading on exchanges and detecting frauds. “We think this is a revolution” – stressed Mr Jacek Figuła, Chief Commercial Officer of the Billon Group while presenting his company’s next generation blockchain solution for digital cash.

Speakers from Poland presenting their technologies at the seminar were chosen by the audience in a voting launched four months before the event. By applying this system based on philosophy of crowdsourcing, the Embassy aimed at creating a more effective match-making process in comparison to selection procedures being employed so far.
