As part of the Polish community meetings held each year to celebrate the upcoming Christmas season, on December 7, 2017, a concert of Christmas carols was organized at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tokyo.

The guests were greeted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Japan, Jacek Izydorczyk, who opening the evening, referred in his speech to the rich history of Polish Christmas carols and extended Christmas wishes to the representatives of the Polish community in Japan gathered at the concert.

The concert of Christmas carols began with a piano recital performed by Miho Kurihara who played scherzo in B minor op. 20 by Frederic Chopin – in which the composer included "Lulajże Jezuniu" – one of the most famous Polish carols. In the second part of the concert, Ms. Lidia Sumiya – a Polish singer residing in Japan – performed a number of carols, presenting to the public the joyful mood of the anticipation of Christmas. The concert was finalised with more Polish accents: a treat of donuts – ‘paczki’, gingerbread cakes ‘pierniki’ and Polish liqueurs.
