    On the 8th of July Prof. Dr. hab. Ewa Palasz-Rutkowska received from H. E. Ambassador of Japan to Poland Makoto Yamanaka the Japanese Government's Medal - Order of the Rising Sun - in appreciation for her long-term research activities for the development of Polish-Japanese relations.

    Prof. Dr. Hab. Ewa Palasz-Rutkowska works currently at the Department of Japanese and Korean Studies at Warsaw University, and for over 30 years has been engaged in education and research on the history and culture of Japan in various academic centers in Poland and abroad. She currently runs courses at the Warsaw University, among others, the history of Japan and meetings Poland with Japan since the end of the nineteenth century. She is also committed to promotion of scientific exchange between Poland and Japan, and since 2007 she has been engaged in organization of the "Japanese Days" at the University of Warsaw.

    The results of her study were published in the form of numerous books and articles. To the most important publications belongs: "Emperor Meiji (1852-1912) modernized image into the ruler Japan" (2013); "In Search of Polish Graves in Japan" (2010); "The History of Polish-Japanese Relations 1904-1945" (2009); "Japan. The history of countries in the twentieth century" (2004).
